Crimp Beads

Two recorded crimp lines: multi-size brass crimps with anti-tarnish finishes from two cents, and 925 sterling silver crimp tubes at 2×2mm.

A crimp bead is the smallest structural part in strung jewellery — the tube you flatten or fold around beading wire to lock a clasp — and the part whose failure loses the whole piece. This catalogue records two crimp families. Brass crimp beads come in multiple sizes and plating colours with an anti-tarnish finish, listed at $0.02–0.04 with a 200-piece minimum: the production consumable. The 925 sterling silver crimp tube, 2×2mm, lists at $0.18–0.19 with a 500-piece minimum: the precious-metal option for silver work.

Choosing between them is not only about price. The crimp must match your wire diameter and your bead holes, and its metal must sit comfortably next to your design's other metals. The sizing logic is covered in full in our crimp guide in the blog; this page gives you the two recorded lines, their figures, and the specification checklist that makes a crimp order right the first time.

How buyers spec crimp beads

  • Start from your wire. State your beading wire type and diameter (for example 0.45mm / .018"). The crimp tube's inside diameter must take the wire twice — out and back — with room to close cleanly. If you are unsure, name the wire and we will match the crimp size to it.
  • Tube vs bead crimps. The silver line is a tube (2×2mm) made for a two-step crimping plier fold; brass crimps are commonly flattened. If your production uses crimping pliers, order tubes; if it flattens, say so and we will confirm the suitable line.
  • Finish must match the design metal. Brass crimps come in multiple plating colours — spec the colour per line so the crimp disappears into a gold, silver or antique design.
  • Count crimps per finished piece. Two per strung piece, plus wastage. Production orders that forget the wastage factor reorder at the worst moment; add it at the quote stage.

Minimums, units and packing

Recorded minimums: 200 pieces on brass crimps, 500 pieces on the 925 silver crimp tubes. At these unit prices the minimums are small commitments — the real decision is size and metal. Confirm current stock of your exact size and finish per SKU before ordering.

Buyer questions

What size crimp do I need for standard beading wire?

For the common 0.45–0.5mm wires, a 2mm tube is the standard match — which is exactly the recorded silver line's 2×2mm. Read the full logic in how to choose crimp bead size.

Are the brass crimps anti-tarnish?

The listing records the brass crimp line with an anti-tarnish finish across multiple plating colours. Anti-tarnish slows, not stops, oxidation — store findings dry and sealed.

Can I cover the crimp for a cleaner finish?

Crimp covers close over a finished crimp to look like a bead. Ask for cover availability in the size matching your crimp on the same inquiry.
