How buyers spec carved jade
- Ask which 'jade', every time. Nephrite, jadeite, Xiuyu serpentine and dyed quartzite all trade as 'jade'. The recorded lines here are Hsiu (Xiuyu) and black jade; get the stone named on your order and price against that stone, not against the word.
- Motif and size together. Carved pendants are individual pieces. State the motif family and the size band you need, and ask for photographs of current pieces — a carved line cannot be re-ordered from a drawing.

Can I reorder the same carved pendant later?
Only approximately. Carved pieces are individual; a repeat order gets the same motif family and stone, not the identical piece. Donut formats are the repeatable option.
What motifs are traditional?
